Asian Seed Congress 2007

Asian Seed Congress, organized by the Asia and Pacific Seed Association, is an annual event that gathers together business executives, academicians, scientists and researchers, government officials and all others involved in the global seed industry. Each year, it is held in a country belonging to the Asia Pacific region for at least five (5) days with an option to have pre-congress activities or extend the post-congress tour which usually ends the entire conference.

This year, Manila greets MABUHAY to the global seed community as the Asian Seed Congress goes to Edsa Shangri-la, Philippines on November 6-10, 2007.
The Republic of the Philippines is an archipelago in South-East Asia consisting of 7, 107 islands with Manila as its capital. It is located between the Philippine Sea and the South China Sea, east of Vietnam and North of Sabah and Borneo.It has a total land area of approximately 300,000 square kilometers or 116,000 square miles, making it the 72nd largest country by area.
The island nation is abundant in natural wonders, colorful history and warm, engaging people. Over a hundred ethnic groups, a mixture of foreign influences and a fusion of culture and arts have enhanced the uniqueness of the Filipino race and the wonder country that it is.


Modern day Filipinos are of Austronesian race, although there is a minority of Filipinos with Chinese, Spanish, American, and Arab ancestry.
Through its rich history, Philippine culture has many affinities with the West. Roman Catholicism is the predominant religion, and Filipino and English are the official languages.
